Ex-US President Jimmy Carter has said Israel has at least 150 atomic weapons in its arsenal.
The Israelis have never confirmed they have nuclear weapons, but this has been widely assumed since a scientist leaked details in the 1980s.
Mr Carter made his comments on Israel’s weapons at a press conference at the annual literary Hay Festival in Wales.
He also described Israeli treatment of Palestinians as “one of the greatest human rights crimes on earth”.
Mr Carter gave the figure for the Israeli nuclear arsenal in response to a question on US policy on a possible nuclear-armed Iran, arguing that any country newly armed with atomic weapons faced overwhelming odds.
Most French speaking media tried to disguise the facts as clashes between “youths” and skinheads. While the Flemish media spoke about clashed between north African immigrants and Football supporters.
The Belgian government set up a cell to fight racism and discrimination, whose job it is to track all forms of racism. Since the blog called for attacks against whites, Belgian anti-racist laws don’t apply. While the vast majority of North African immigrants are not involved in any way in such riots, these events show that the Belgian and European immigration policies are a complete failure and they point out the double standard when it comes to racism.
Besides the Belgian Dutch speaking media, the Arabic web site Aljazeera.net was the only media not to misrepresent the facts.

A hidden world in which Asian men “groom” young white girls for sex has been exposed with the jailing yesterday of two men for child-abuse offences.
Zulfqar Hussain, 46, and Qaiser Naveed, 32, from east Lancashire, were each jailed for five years and eight months after exploiting two girls aged under 16 by plying them with alcohol and drugs before having sex with them.
Both men pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to abduction, sexual activity with a child and the supply of a controlled drug.
Despite being told explicitly by police and social services that both girls were under-age and should be returned to care, the men picked up one girl from a children’s home in Blackburn and then drove on to collect her friend who was living in temporary foster care in North Wales.
Naveed, from Burnley, gave one girl the first of five Ecstasy tablets at a motorway service station before having sex with her on the back seat of the car while the group drove back to Lancashire. The court was told that the two men later took the girls to an address in Blackburn where Hussain, from Blackburn, had sex with the second girl and gave her a total of ten Ecstasy tablets.
Yesterday Judge Andrew Gilbart, QC, jailed the two Asian men under new sex laws designed to protect youngsters from being groomed for sexual activity. Judge Gilbart said: “This is a truly shocking offence. You knew them. They were exploited for sex by the two of you. No other description is possible. They were under-age girls who you knew it was your responsibility to protect and not exploit.”
The Austrian dissident, Gerd Honsik, has been extradited from Spain to his native country. He must serve an 18 month prison term in Austria for violation of speech laws. He is at risk of being sentenced again for further prohibited statements. If he is found guilty again, he could be sentenced to 20 years in jail!

It was a long night, but worth staying up just to see Geoff Hoon’s face as he announced that the BNP had polled ‘disappointingly’ well in Derby and gained its first councillor in Amber Valley.
The state of play as I write this at 6.30 this morning (just three house sleep) is that we have made eight gains, with new BNP councillors in Amber Valley (2), Nuneaton & Bedworth (2), Rotherham (2), Pendle and Thurrock.
Today, watch out for results in Burnley, Stoke and Epping Forest as well as, of course, for the London Assembly where the huge turn-out might dash the BNP’s hopes of a taking a seat although this will go down to the wire.
The results in Carlisle were another step forward. Brian Allan increased his vote although falling well short of victory in Currock, and overall our performance in the wards we fought was satisfactory and provides something to build on.
The BNP vote across the country last night shows that we are growing in significance within the political arena and reports of near misses in a number of seats are now filtering through.

An 84-year-old former U.S. Army mechanical engineer was arrested Tuesday on charges he slipped classified documents about nuclear weapons to an employee of the Israeli Consulate who also received information from convicted Pentagon spy Jonathan Pollard, authorities announced.

Ben-ami Kadish was charged in U.S. District Court in Manhattan with four counts of conspiracy, including allegations that he disclosed U.S. national defense documents to Israel and acted as an agent of the Israeli government.
Prosecutors say Kadish, a U.S. citizen who worked at an Army base in New Jersey, took home classified documents for six years and let the Israeli photograph them in his basement. Those documents included information about nuclear weapons, a modified version of an F-15 fighter jet, and the U.S. Patriot missile air defense system. Kadish’s apparent motivation was to help Israel, prosecutors said.
British Jewish activists, decrying the far-right British National Party as anti-Semitic and racist, are urging former Londoners living in Israel to vote in the upcoming mayoral and council elections in an attempt to foil the BNP’s bid to secure seats.
A joint campaign against the BNP’s bid for electoral success is being mounted by the Board of Deputies of British Jews, the umbrella group representing U.K. Jewry, Searchlight anti-racism and fascism organization and the UJS.
