The hungry children and the families dying of AIDS here are gut-wrenching, but somehow what I find even more depressing is this: Many, many ordinary black Zimbabweans wish that they could get back the white racist government that oppressed them in the 1970’s.
“If we had the chance to go back to white rule, we’d do it,” said Solomon Dube, a peasant whose child was crying with hunger when I arrived in his village. “Life was easier then, and at least you could get food and a job.”
Mr. Dube acknowledged that the white regime of Ian Smith was awful. But now he worries that his 3-year-old son will die of starvation, and he would rather put up with any indignity than witness that.
An elderly peasant in another village, Makupila Muzamba, said that hunger today is worse than ever before in his seven decades or so, and said: “I want the white man’s government to come back. … Even if whites were oppressing us, we could get jobs and things were cheap compared to today.”
His wife, Mugombo Mudenda, remembered that as a younger woman she used to eat meat, drink tea, use sugar and buy soap. But now she cannot even afford corn gruel. “I miss the days of white rule,” she said.

Lets face it. Without whites to keep everything organized, blacks cannot make anything work.
And the whites were not ‘racist’.
Just because there was segregation, doesn’t mean it was racist.
Can you blame the white people for wanting to live separately from the blacks?
Show me where the negro had accomplished anything in his 20,000 year history?
Until whites came along, all blacks were just living as tribes in little mud huts.
Put the whites back in charge, and you will feed all the people, and educate them too.

Mugabe used hatred of whites to get power. Western intellectuals applauded and did everything they could to deny the late Ian Smith the few crumbs of international support he needed to stave off exactly this disaster. Today Rhodesia — excuse me, Zimbabwe — is starving, and Western intellectuals refuse to understand the role they played in bringing this horror about, just as they still refuse to understand their role in bringing about the Stalinist and Maoist massacres.
Wake up, people. Every day, the world looks more and more like a cross between “The Camp of the Saints” and “Atlas Shrugged.” Our political and cultural elites are destroying our civilization with an absurd doctrine of universal tolerance and radical egalitarianism. The catastrophe in Zimbabwe and the coming catastrophe in South Africa are the fruits of political theories wildly out of keeping with human nature.
There is nothing compassionate or noble about consigning millions of Africans to death for the sake of political correctness.

What a load of rubbish. Everyone, black, white and all were far better off with Ian Smith in charge! Just remember the “liberation struggle” was between a gang of drugged up gangsters and the Rhodesian Army which was 80% black! Have you forgotten the masacre in the west by the 5th brigade? Have you forgotten that one of Mugabie’s first act was to have his own brother murdered? Get real, talk to people who were there!
