The Europeans seem to understand the huge advantage of using sports as part of a marketing campaign a little better than we have here state side. This should come as no shock to any red blooded American who knows that we view sex as a taboo subject, while Europeans seem to revel in sexuality. After the successful Dieux de Stade rugby calendar which in its homoerotic pictorials shows that sports are made for more than just beer drinking overweight middle aged men, now the Brits are showing their support for gay athletics.
This week The Village Manchester FootBall Club ( VMFC), which is the north of England’s premier gay football club has clinched a major three-year sponsorship deal with Recon.com, a fetish site for gay men. The three-year deal announced on December 11, 2006, by recon’s Managing Director Philip Hamill and VMFC Head of communications Jason McAuley, makes recon the Principle Club Sponsor for the VMFC 1st and 2nd Teams, and will see the club change their traditional blue ‘home’ shirts in favor of a sexy new red one emblazoned with the recon logo.
Far-right outlines tough immigration plans
The European Parliament’s first-ever group of right-wing deputies outlined a tough programme on immigration and future enlargement of the European Union, saying that their common basis was to be a “union of patriots.”
The new group, expected to be officially formed next Monday, will be named “Identity, Tradition and Sovereignty”, its prospective leader, Euro MP and deputy chief of France’s National Front party Bruno Gollnisch told reporters.
Gollnisch, member of the EU parliament since 1989, is waiting for a verdict on charges of questioning the Holocaust.
Europe needed a new policy aimed at “reversing the migration flows” of immigrants from outside Europe, Gollnisch said, adding: “It is racist to have immigrants coming into Europe to do the work that Europeans don’t want to do.”
He also said that the EU should take a “circumspect view against future enlargement” of the now 27-member bloc, arguing that further opening up the union’s borders could lead to an influx of workers seeking jobs in the member states.
Ironically, the creation of the new 20-member right-wing group became possible only with the accession of Romania and Bulgaria to the EU on January 1.
With five Euro MPs from Romania’s anti-Roma xenophobic Greater Romania Party and one from Bulgaria’s extreme Ataka party, the new group managed to get just the threshold number of deputies needed.

Jewish author questions King hoax
There is probably no greater sacred cow in America than Martin Luther King Jr. The slightest criticism of him or even suggesting that he isn’t deserving of a national holiday leads to the usual accusations of racist, fascism, and the rest of the usual left-wing epithets not only from liberals, but also from many ostensible conservatives and libertarians.
This is amazing because during the 50s and 60s, the Right almost unanimously opposed the civil rights movement. Contrary to the claims of many neocons, the opposition was not limited to the John Birch Society and southern conservatives. It was made by politicians like Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, and in the pages of Modern Age, Human Events, National Review, and the Freeman.
Today, the official conservative and libertarian movement portrays King as someone on our side who would be fighting Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton if he were alive. Most all conservative publications and websites have articles around this time of the year praising King and discussing how today’s civil rights leaders are betraying his legacy. Jim Powell’s otherwise excellent The Triumph of Liberty rates King next to Ludwig von Mises and Albert J. Nock as a libertarian hero. Attend any IHS seminar, and you’ll read “A letter from a Birmingham Jail” as a great piece of anti-statist wisdom. The Heritage Foundation regularly has lectures and symposiums honoring his legacy. There are nearly a half dozen neocon and left-libertarian think tanks and legal foundations with names such as “The Center for Equal Opportunity” and the “American Civil Rights Institute” which claim to model themselves after King.
Why is a man once reviled by the Right now celebrated by it as a hero? The answer partly lies in the fact that the mainstream Right has gradually moved to the left since King’s death. The influx of many neoconservative intellectuals, many of whom were involved in the civil rights movement, into the conservative movement also contributes to the King phenomenon. This does not fully explain the picture, because on many issues King was far to the left of even the neoconservatives, and many King admirers even claim to adhere to principles like freedom of association and federalism. The main reason is that they have created a mythical Martin Luther King Jr., that they constructed solely from one line in his “I Have a Dream” speech.

Let us now praise famous men – if we can. There are two reasons you don’t need to know anything about Mike (even his name is a fraud) King, to know that we should not be celebrating a holiday in his name. First, a respectable time needs to pass after a man dies, during which the facts will mature. After sober reflection has considered them, a national clamor will spontaneously call such an honor into being – it if is deserved.
To force such a holiday into law soon after a man dies, almost gasping in haste as in an emergency, using intimidation and threats, is unseemly to say the least; but that is how the present farce we uncelebrate was arranged. Need we add that this principle applies to any man, whatever his name, whatever his color.
The second reason proves ipso facto that the “Martin Luther” King holiday is a fraud. The only American who used to be so honored – the only one – was George Washington himself, the Father of our country, because sober reflection on the facts proved he deserved it.
Since then, George Washington has been demoted. Look at your calendar. His birthday has been submerged in “Presidents Day,” with the result that the only American honored with a holiday all his own is Mike King. Even if you knew nothing about him before you started reading this, the obvious question should erupt from your monitor: Does this man – does any American – deserve to be honored above Washington?
Mike was said to be an apostle of Mohandas K. Gandhi’s non-violence. Many Americans at the time wondered why it was that, wherever King went, violence erupted. He explained it himself, in a piece he wrote for Saturday Review (April 3, 1965), in which he set forth the four steps of his technique.
“1. Nonviolent demonstrators go into the streets to exercise their constitutional rights. 2. Racists resist by unleashing violence against them. 3. Americans of conscience in the name of decency demand federal intervention and legislation. 4. The administration, under mass pressure, initiates measures of immediate intervention and remedial legislation.”
Remember, this is not something we are accusing him of. Mike King wrote this himself. Notice that step two of his formulation calls for violence. The reason violence broke out wherever he went was that violence was what he went into the streets to get. His lieutenants would do things in the target city deliberately designed to drive normal human beings berserk.
Six accused of London bomb plot
Six men planned “murderous suicide bombings” on public transport in London on 21 July 2005, a court has heard.
The prosecution alleges they were involved in an “extremist Muslim plot” targeting the capital – 14 days after the “carnage” of the 7 July bombings.
Muktar Ibrahim, Manfo Asiedu, Hussein Osman, Yassin Omar, Ramzi Mohammed and Adel Yahya all deny conspiracy to murder and cause explosions.
The trial at Woolwich Crown Court in London could last up to four months.
Prosecutor Nigel Sweeney QC said the six – all originally from Africa but living in London – chose a date for their plan “just 14 days after the carnage of July 7″.

Peru’s White Mummies
Hands over her eyes and her face gripped with terror, the woman’s fear of death is all too obvious.
The remarkable mummy was found in a hidden burial vault in the Amazon.
It is at least 600 years old and has survived thanks to the embalming skills of her tribe, the Chachapoyas or cloud warriors.
Eleven further mummies were recovered from the massive cave complex 82ft down.
The vault – which was also used for worship – was chanced upon three months ago by a farmer working at the edge of northern Peru’s rainforest. He tipped off scientists who uncovered ceramics, textiles and wall paintings.
The Chachapoyas were a tall, fairhaired, light-skinned race that some researchers believe may have come from Europe.
Little is known about them except that they were one of the more advanced ancient civilisations in the area. Adept at fighting, they commanded a large kingdom from the year 800 to 1500 that stretched across the Andes.

China warns US over trade with Iran
China warned the United States on Thursday not to meddle in its trade relations with Iran after Washington expressed concern about a planned investment by a Chinese oil company in an Iranian gas field.
“We think this kind of cooperation and relationship is legitimate. Normal cooperation should not be interfered,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao.
Asked whether that meant Beijing believed the U.S. was interfering in its dealings with Iran, Liu said that “this is our position.”
